Biography research report – 1-2 library lab days

1 class period instruction including Big6 research guide for biographies,

time remaining for students to look up information for assignment

optional: 1 additional class period to gather enough information for the report

The purpose of this workshop is to teach students to use WilsonWeb & other quality online resources for a biography research report. 

Teacher prep:  Teacher should require students to write a biography research report.

Workshop details:  Students will learn how to access and search WilsonWeb for biographical information and learn how to use reputable online sources for biography research.  They will conduct guided and individual searches for information and learn to use the print link to streamline text before printing.  There will be some time to begin research on the first day, but students will not have enough time in one day to gather all the information required for a biography report. 

Product:

• completed Big6 research guide for biographies

• printed information/article for the class assignment 

• MLA citations of the sources used 

• completed product required by teacher
